A wild turkey is a hard-earned trophy, and it deserves a mount that shows it off. Outlaw Taxidermy handles Rio Grande and Merriam turkeys from the canyons, foothills and river bottoms of the Mountain West, in everything from a full strut to a clean fan-and-beard. Birds are what we do, so from the moment your tom reaches our table it is in expert hands. Serving hunters across Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada.

Field Care for a Tom
- Cool it fast. Turkeys hold heat and can slip around the beard and cape — get it cool quickly.
- Keep the fan and beard clean and dry. Blood and mud are hard on them.
- Do not gut it if you want a full or quarter mount.
- Freeze it smoothed. Bag it large, feathers flat, fan supported, and freeze until you can reach us.
Why Hunters Choose Outlaw for Turkeys
Turkeys are big, iridescent and unforgiving — the cape can slip and the body feathers only look right when groomed to catch the light. Birds are all we do, and that is why our toms look alive. We stand behind every mount. Pricing runs from an affordable fan-and-beard up to a full strut; reach out and we will quote you straight.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the first thing I should do with my turkey?
Keep the fan and beard clean and dry, cool the bird fast to avoid slipping around the cape, and freeze it in a large bag with the feathers smoothed. Do not gut a bird you want fully mounted.
What is the difference between the presentations?
A full strut is the whole bird in display; a quarter mount is a wall piece showing the strutting fan, beard and cape; a fan-and-beard is a plaque of just the tail fan, beard and spurs — the most affordable.
Can I just save the fan, beard and spurs?
You can, but a proper fan-and-beard plaque preserves and displays them far better and lasts a lifetime. Bring them in and we will build you a clean display.
How long does a turkey mount take?
Generally several months depending on backlog and presentation. We keep you updated and never rush the work.
